If you are arriving by train from La Spezia, keep in mind that Riomaggiore is only an 8 minute train ride away.
The train is a very easy and convenient way to get from village to village. It runs approximately each 20 minutes (during the high season) and cuts through coastal tunnels, so don’t expect to see much.
If you have already decided to arrive by train, before departing, consult the online timetable by entering "Riomaggiore" as your destination https://www.trenitalia.com/
If you are planning to visit Cinque Terre by train, consider the opportunity to buy the Cinque Terre Card, a daily ticket that permits you to move freely from La Spezia to Levanto..

You probably already know that the main modes of transport in the Cinque Terre are foot, train and ferry.
Anyway if you do decide to arrive by car, you have to know where to park in Cinque Terre. You’ll find that the parking areas are outside the villages; be ready for a walk with your luggage.
Free parking is only available well outside the village center at the beginning of the road that brings to Riomaggiore, shortly after the junction.
The positive side of driving around the Cinque Terre is the stunning view from the road, which winds through vineyards and olive groves. You can stop at several viewpoints to enjoy the amazing panorama.
The main motorway exit is LA SPEZIA-S.STEFANO MAGRA on the A12 Genova-Livorno or A15 Parma-La Spezia. From the motorway exit, follow for La Spezia and once in town proceed on the main road following the signs for CINQUE TERRE.
Riomaggiore is the first town, 12 Km from La Spezia; few hundred meters after the second tunnel you’ll find the notice on the main road and you’ve to drive down-slope on the right.
The last 2 kilometers before Riomaggiore are not very comfortable, even more in high season when the cars are parked on one side of the road, making it very narrow.
Parking is allowed for free after the fork to Riomaggiore or you can park inside a parking lot named RioPark at the very end of it (price is 35 euros per day); the last hundred meters of road are reserved parking for residents. You can get more information once there, asking at the Info Point.
ATC Esercizio offers tourists and people living in the Cinque Terre area abus service .
The Park of Cinque Terre applies the same ticketing system used by ATC Esercizio.
The “Cinque Terre Card” can be used on these buses. The timetable changes according to the period and season and can be found in the Tourist Offices.
